2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1

Without hesitation the rebuke for assimilation to the commands to not be yoked with the dark.
The call for separation from the lawless in abiding friendship. The banner is displayed for the bound the be released. Running from the unrighteous and their yoke!
Not to be mismatched they will pull you to the ground. In holy conversation, they will not go with you, their celebration is of deeds of the night. Hell’s children want you to give up your strength to their blasphemies. Their worldview is egocentric and demonic while yours is christocentric. The foreign nature of those who love the world and its lures. They fish for evil schemings, while a christian fishes for men. They undermine God’s law, while the children of God delight to conform to God’s law. The wicked do not practice righteousness nor do they love their brother, the righteous love to do righteousness, and will lay down their their lives for their friends. The wicked are filled with unbelief and righteous will live by his faith. the lawless are blinded by the god of this age and will not see the light. The believer has seen the light because God has opened their eyes to their lawless deeds and God’s grace has drawn them. The fundamental nature of the creature and Creator has been changed from enmity to excellence in grace. From a union with Christ have been brought to a virtuous inheritace in Jesus. The Judgement of God was put upon the Light of the world. Everyone who is in the light of Jesus is in righteousness. called to the light of God to walk in it. The contrast is walking in Christ’s works or in the works of Satan. Or light and dark, or unrighteous and righteous, life and death. The strength of the life of Christ has been put inside the believer. Our perspective is changed to see the reality of the true reality because of the Divine, Jesus. The life of God imparted by Jesus has ripped the veil so the dark sins that we did in the world are no longer hidden, but they have been hidden in Christ in our unity with him throught the blood of His cross. He has give us senses to know are of the light. Making us to belive what is right. He has deposited in us the ideas that deal with the idolatrous heart. So tha in covetous idolatry we would not take part. The idol factory has been closed down on which God used to frown from heaven above. Now all we know is God’s love. The demonic doctrines of the demons are no longer ours. It is no longer a mixed affection in our heart but in truth we do take part. We are now a temple where his truth and light may be known. God’s promise of his special presence is now ours and the unbeliever cannot know this, to think this, we would be remiss. The joining with the unbeliever must be dismissed because Gods presence is not in their midst. We have God dwelling in each and every individual not a mixed multitude. God knows the people who are His and that is who he gives His presence to. He commits himself to those that belive to be his special people. He doesn’t commit His presence to the unbeleiver, neither should we. The covenant to be toward us and make us fruitful. He will not reject the beleiver. He doesn’t relent in doing the believer good. He never sleeps or retires from doing us good, he blesses us with goodness at all times.

…From the ‘I Told You So’ Dept: The Federal Vision has not gone away and worse, the de facto leader of the Federal Vision movement has apparently been integrated into the evangelical-Reformed mainstream. I noticed that, in July of this year, he was interviewed on the TGC website about lectures given on the campus of the University of Indiana and that he posted an article earlier the same month. Just days ago he posted on worldview. Then, of course, there was the kerfuffle over Jared Wilson’s quotation of his comments on sex as conquest. It’s more than little disappointing that the Gospel Coalition should adopt the leading proponent of the Federal Vision doctrine as one of their own and that controversy should erupt, not over his corruption of the gospel, but over his reconstructionist-inspired account of marital relations. A word to the TGC: If you lie down with a dominionist federal-vision theologian you wake with his fleas.

Heidelblog is back (last post April 2011) and in full swing! Glad to hear an influential theologian like this not afraid to confront Federal Vision’ist (*cough* *cough* Doug *cough* Wilson).

The last HB post was in May 2011. Much has happened since. It’s not possible to fill in the blank created by the interim so I won’t try.

Nick- prayer request

I went to the gym real quick
Heard a debate and I wanted to pick
Witnessed to a guy named Nick
He is a young hispanic
He tried to argue from the historic
But Christ’s word battled his rhetoric
He asked for my stance, I said it was calvinistic, baptistic
Please pray for Nick
I told him he should repent quick
That the gospel is salvific
And that Christ should be centric

The Lord’s day is another secondary means of sanctification, which manifestly becomes such only in the Christian’s use of divine truth; either such as is suggested by God’s appointment of such a day, or such as is attained through the opportunity for such purpose which it affords.

The Lord’s Day as Means of Sanctification

Article summary:

The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary founder James Petigru Boyce (1827-1888) addresses the means of sanctification in his Abstract of Systematic Theology. Boyce places the means of sanctification into two categories: primary and secondary. On the primary means, Boyce writes: The primary means which the Spirit uses for our sanctification, as both of these sources of information teach, is the truth of God.
